Natura, che passione…anche in salotto
Realizing the dreams of the clients is the guiding principle of our daily actions. An objective that often turns into an obstacle for those tasked with designing when the request clashes with a reality that is starkly different from the expressed needs. In cases as daring as suggesting the solution, memory comes into play, understood as a revelation: that enormous treasure chest where aesthetic and cognitive perceptions are stored, which we mature from childhood. Without the internet and devoid of hypnotic gaming consoles, our youth was marked by the times dictated by imagination, inventiveness, and creativity. It is precisely to that baggage of youthful experiences that we turned to satisfy the owners of this apartment located in the Wagner area of Milan. How to ideally transfer their passion for nature, greenery, and walks into the city? Without too many frills, we played with two elements combined with modernity: light and wood.
The first, used to bring brightness and volume to the rooms, the second (a maple with a neutral yet welcoming tone) to envelop the house in a hospitable, warm, and reassuring embrace with a contemporary touch. From the bathroom to the living area, wood reigns supreme. The spaces are presided over by maple-clad paneling, a choice useful to give uniformity to the house. A motif that is also expressed on the floor thanks to the parquet “tiles” laid diagonally.
In the living room, the “camouflage” furniture wins: from decoders, to doors, up to the bar area, nothing is displayed, to leave the magic of surprise to the guests. The only exception in plain sight is the television, embedded in the paneling to maintain the volumes designed during the planning phase.
The Flexform (sofa “Soft Dream”) and Molteni (table “Arc”) furnishings conclude this seduction experiment embracing the entire relaxation area with the strength of elegance, refinement, and design. The lighting path does not escape the rule of invisibility but finds, indeed, full authority in the Viabizzuno wall lamps that accompany the journey of the paneling.
Working in this direction made it possible to (re)create an atmosphere capable of enhancing, on one hand, the monochrome (not to be confused with monotony) of the house and, on the other hand, the grain of maple, thus evoking that desire, we would dare say that need, for nature specific to the clients.
Like in a single cinematic sequence with a Hitchcockian scent, the paneling enters the “bathroom,” seamlessly, taking up the theme of the living area. A scenography with a minimal yet elegant profile (the luxurious taste of the Antonio Lupi brand being the undisputed protagonist) to define the place of domestic well-being.
It was not easy to reconcile the property’s thirst for greenery, envisioning themselves immersed in the Umbrian countryside or the lush vegetation of Val di Sole, with the noise of traffic in a lively, frenetic, and chaotic city like Milan. Yet, to achieve the result, it was enough to follow a piece of advice from Paul Gauguin, an invitation to find one’s “place,” whether near or far, as long as it is one’s own: “I close my eyes to be able to see”…
