Ringhiera moderna
Experiencing Milan, experiencing the city, also means immersing yourself in its history.
Residentially, tenement houses (case di ringhiera) retain an ancient, timeless charm, synonymous with simplicity and conviviality.
While they offered a popular atmosphere in the 19th century, it was with the economic boom of the 1960s that they became the ideal solution for the many immigrants from the South, due to their favorable prices.
Today, however, they represent true real estate gems.
The ownership of one of these precious buildings required our intervention, for the renovation, design, and furnishing of a 40-square-meter two-room apartment.
This is a new concept dedicated to “courtyards and balconies,” following those created a few years ago for “Profumo di spezie” and, indeed, “La casa di ringhiera.”
Living area-Kitchen
Due to the limited space, we decided to emphasize the living area in particular.
This solution, of course, was designed to allow the living room and kitchen to coexist.
Upon entering, the soft-toned decorative paneling immediately catches your eye, enhancing and adding character to the wall.
The recessed lighting and recessed lighting create rhythm and brightness, aided by the LED lighting.
The kitchen, on the other hand, uses darker tones to create a contrast with the surrounding space, giving the “box” a distinctive splash of color.
Completing the space is a table with a marble-effect stoneware top and matching armchairs.
A handcrafted sofa bed, upholstered in flesh-pink.
The warm and elegant natural oak parquet runs throughout the entire home except for the bathroom.
Sleeping area
The sleeping area features a custom-designed, backlit plasterboard ceiling.
The choice to decorate the wall behind the headboard with geometric wallpaper is also noteworthy.
The storage bed, also handcrafted, offers new possibilities for space saving.
Bath
It’s the creative highlight of the entire project, as it wasn’t there before our intervention.
Originally, in this type of home, everything was shared, even the bathroom, which was generally located on the landing.
Through careful study of the project, the most intimate room in the house was given a separate home between the living area and the sleeping area.
To reflect the apartment’s historic character, we opted for a covering that evoked, in a modern and trendy way, a 1920s feel.
The color chosen for the walls? A gray-green resin.
